Applicable to the Hornet and Hornet C. Fatigue tests on FRP composite wings and wing spars have shown that a service life of 12000 hours is possible for these components. As the test programs did not examine the entire aircraft, the life extensions can only be granted if the long-term airworthiness of each individual aircraft is verified by compliance with a special multi-stage inspection program devised by the manufacturer. These inspections are in addition to the annual Form II inspections, but both may be performed concurrently. Life extension inspections will be due at 1000 hour intervals, commencing at 3000 hours. Issue 5 of this AD corrects omissions in Issue 4 by combining Issue 3 and Issue 4. Glasfaser-Flugzeug-Service Technical Note 206-13 covers life extension from 3000 to 6000 hours, and Glasfaser-Flugzeug-Service Technical Note 206-23 covers life extension beyond 6000 hours. Both TNs are attached & form part of this AD.
