INSPECTION OF THE CONTROL COLUMN MOUNTING BULKHEADS
Applicable to the Standard Cirrus, Standard Cirrus B, Standard Cirrus G, Standard Cirrus 75 VTC. One case has been reported of the fuselage frame which holds the forward control column stop delaminating from the fuselage frame. It is unclear whether this glider had been involved in a previous accident or wheels up landing but this is a common defect in gliders which have been involved in these types of occurrences. Issue 1 of this AD required inspection of the parts at each Daily Inspection however this is now considered excessive. The frequency of inspection has been reduced to at Annual Inspections and after wheels up landings. At each Annual Inspection and after each wheels up landing the seat pan must be removed and the bulkheads which the control column mounts on must be inspected for delamination.
